Xødus

The battle to save the Earth begins with destroying everything he believed was true.

STORY

After centuries of war the Earth is dead. The rich live in an orbiting city while the poor struggle in the wastelands on Earth. The city is terraforming Saturn’s largest moon Titan and will turn the Earth into a star. Those who do not serve the evil city and its warped cybernetic Queen will be left behind to die.

X0DUS tells the story of Caleb, a young Duke, whose idyllic life aboard the orbiting city is shattered when his father is murdered by the Queen and Caleb is thrown into the Earth’s apocalyptic deserts. Left for dead, he’s found by Red, a warrior maiden of the slave underclass who despises everything he represents. But Red and Caleb must unite forces if they are to stop the Queen from vaporizing the Earth

Production

X0dus is a live action, virtual production action adventure feature film for fans of all the science-fiction movies we loved in the 80s; Star Wars, Mad Max, Dune, Enemy Mine, Damnation Alley and Flash Gordon. It’s a visually spectacular non-stop action packed genre movie utilizing breakthrough real-time technology to produce high quality visuals at an independent budget.

Crew

X0dus is written and directed by visual effects veteran and award winning independent feature film director Dean Yurke. With over 25 years of experience in high-end feature film visual effects, ranging from computer graphics supervisor, animator, compositor and environment artist, he has worked on some of the most popular franchises of all time including STAR WARS, TRANSFORMERS, HARRY POTTER, AVATAR, AVENGERS and more recently has credits on the virtual production and streaming show hits; THE MANDALORIAN, LOKI, HAWKEYE and OBI-WAN. In tandem with his visual effects career, Yurke also wrote, produced and directed the festival favorite supernatural thriller, Stay Out Stay Alive, winner of 10 best picture / best director awards resulting in world-wide distribution through Gravitas Ventures.

The Future

Originally written 20 years ago, X0dus was a quarter finalist in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship screenwriting competition ran by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. At that time, because of the high cost of visual effects in the traditional pipeline, it was simply not feasible as an independent production, so alas it sat in the draw of unrequited dreams…

Until now! About a year ago Dean got the opportunity to transfer to the environment team at Industrial Light & Magic and rediscovered his love of 3D after specializing in compositing for the last 15 years. Seeing the advances in computing power, rendering technology, friendly plethora of tools and assets now available in off the shelf software completely reinvigorated his passion for X0dus. Through adopting the real-time advances in film-making his incredible vision can now be a reality.
